Northern Most Angelo's
In 2022, we'll mix things up a bit for variety. As usual, from the start at Angelo’s Burgers in Oceanside, riders will travel the San Luis Rey Bike Path to College Blvd and then tackle their first climb of Sleeping Indian to FallBrook. After a brisk descent, you will start a series of climbs on De Luz toward Temecula, arriving at the Temecula after a swift descent down Rancho California Rd. The route continues on south towards Rainbow and into more climbs on Couser Canyon Rd to Lilac Rd and Circle R Rd.
Instead of Old Hwy 395 to Deer Springs Rd, this year you'll take the scenic ride on Camino Del Rey out to Bonsall and then follow Old River Rd, passing the historic San Luis Rey Bridge before making your way south on Vista Way, continuing on Santa Fe Ave and then Santa Fe Rd into Olivenhain. After a short climb on El Camino Del Norte, you'll ride through the posh neighborhood of Rancho Santa Fe on Paseo Delicias and along the Linea Del Cielo ridge line down into Solana Beach. A short jaunt down to Del Mar along the race track where the "Surf meets the Turf" before making your way back to the finish in Oceanside.

Although bicyclists have the same rights and responsibilities as motorists and are subject to the same rules and regulations, it is crucial that bicyclists pay attention to traffic signs and signals and follow all rules to reduce the risk of collisions, while on the road. Refer to the California Driver Handbook to become familiar with these rules. This excerpt is found at the DMV website for Sharing the Road (FFDL37) and can be read here.
