This route is a modified version of the original "Honey Springs Ain't Sweet." For this route, the distance has been reduced from 229km to 201km. In addition, the Hwy 67 climb from Lakeside to Scripps Poway Pkwy has been replaced by the 52 bike path climb to Kearny Mesa. But rest assured that Honey Springs Rd, Lyons Valley Rd, Japatul Rd and Mountain View Rd out of Harbison Canyon climbs are still intact for all to enjoy/suffer in preparation for the Thanksgiving feasting. The hope is after finishing this brevet, you'll make room for additional servings of turkey and pie on that day with family.
This brevet will be rider led and fully self supported. There is no plan at this time to staff any control. All controls (except for the Lyons Valley Rd/Japatul Rd intersection control) are located at stores where you can purchase water and food.
At the start, you are required to have both headlights and rear lights and reflective vests for the high likelihood of riding after sunset.
