With the anticipation of the holidays combined with shorter days and colder temperatures as winter approaches, emotions can get mixed. It seems only right to host Mixed Emotions 102k to round out the year's gravel rides.
This route is another one of Kelly DeBoer's mixed terrain creations. In the descripton is the link to his video that showcases this route. Though not as challenging as Ham Hock or Potato Chip Grinder which are some of Kelly's more sinister intentions, there is just enough rocky single tracks to keep even the most experienced gravel riders on their toes. The start/finish location has been moved to Pacific Highlands to shorten the drive for randos coming from the south. The 8:00 start will be reasonably late enough for those who want to bike to the start/from the the finish. Given the later start, a pre-ride breakfast can be organized at the Breakfast Republic which opens at 7:00.
The 100k links up several dirt trails throughout North County. Here's an inventory of those trails on this populaire:
Proximity to suburbs and parks means water and food is readily accessable. Public parking is available in the mall at the start.
