ATTENTION: BREVET START/FINISH HAS BEEN MOVED AGAIN TO OGGI'S IN LIBERTY STATION BY USS RECRUIT JUST OFF OF HARBOR DR.

This year's Ocean Beach 200k/300k series, starting from Liberty Station, will head up to Fallbrook. After a short spin through Liberty Station, you'll climb out of the river valley on Linda Vista Rd to Kearny Villa Rd passing MCAS Miramar. Through Mira Mesa, you'll ride on Black Mountain Rd descending into and climbing out of the Penasquitos Canyon, making your way pass Black Mountain and 4S Ranch to reach Lake Hodges's eastern shore where you will cross into Escondido. Taking Bear Valley Rd through Escondido to avoid the busy city center, you'll reach your first significant climb on Valley Center Rd into Valley Center. After a quick stop at the control, you'll continue on Lilac Rd and West Lilac Rd before making your descent into the San Luis Rey River Valley on Old Hwy 395. You'll turn onto Live Oak Park Rd followed by Stage Coach Ln to Olive Hill Rd and then Old River Rd before making your way to Hwy 78. Making your way pass Mission San Luis Rey and El Camino Real, you'll reach the Pacific through Carlsbad as you start your southbound trek. Instead of the Torrey Pines climb, you'll be diverted to the Sorrento Valley/UCSD bike path to connect up to Gilman Dr. From Rose Canyon and Rose Creek bike paths, you'll ride pass Crown Point by Mission Bay before crossing the San Diego River estuary and back to Liberty Station for the finish.

Parking is available by Oggi's and in Liberty Station. Please park in spaces that are not marked with any time limit. Street parking is also available on Laning St. Unfortunately the Starbucks in the mall will not be open until 6:00. Public bathrooms are available at the NTC Liberty Station Park near the intersection of Cushing Rd and Farragut Rd.

ALL SAN DIEGO RANDONNEURS EVENTS ARE ONLY OPEN TO PARTICIPANTS WHOSE RUSA MEMBERSHIP IS CURRENT.

Randonneuring is a self-supporting event  – There will be no day of registration. Start/Finish will be staffed. SAG support and staffing at a control along the route will depend on volunteers available for this event.

All riders must follow RUSA rules. Helmet, lights and reflective gear are a must (lights and reflective gear must be worn between dusk to dawn. Riders must follow all local traffic laws and regulations.

Although bicyclists have the same rights and responsibilities as motorists and are subject to the same rules and regulations, it is crucial that bicyclists pay attention to traffic signs and signals and follow all rules to reduce the risk of collisions, while on the road. Refer to the California Driver Handbook to become familiar with these rules. This excerpt is found at the DMV website for Sharing the Road (FFDL37) and can be read here.
