Please note route change. The revised 200k will follow the same first loop as the 400k and 600k riders.
This route is the 200k version of the San Diego 3 Loops series. Riding on El Camino Real, you'll roll your way through the rural neighborhoods of Bonsall and Fallbrook riding on quiet country roads until you reach Rainbow for a quick refreshment. You'll make your way south on Old Hwy 395 to reach West Lilac Rd, where you'll continue east through more farmlands and sparcely populated parts of San Diego County into Valley Center, stopping at Bates Nut Farm. Reaching the highest elevation on the route when you turn toward Lake Wohlford, you make your descent to Escondido, passing Lake Hodges on your ride to Poway, reintering the suburban landscape of San Diego. Eventually you'll make your way back to the coast at UCSD and returning to Encinitas along the coast to complete the first loop.
Parking is available on the Encinitas Station Park and Ride on Vulcan Ave just down the street from the start. Confirming with the manager at the Days Inn that parking is available to participants for $5-$10. Parking is not available the Moonlight Plaza across the street: there is a 2-hour limit and you will bear the risk of your car being towed if you decide to park there.
